Open your computer to a Google Doc and join me in staking a claim in what you stand for.

Today, I want to share a short exercise that I do with one question and a timer.  It is powerful and empowering and will help you hone in how you feel and think and connect with yourself.

I was feeling stuck in creating my course The Freedom Effect and I needed to dump some thoughts and feelings out in order to kick myself in the butt and keep going.

My entry ~ What do you stand for?

I stand for women in the middle of life standing up for themselves and changing how they think about themselves and going after REALLY want in life.

I believe that women over 45 should trust themselves and eat and laugh and dance and play and challenge themselves and speak up and create healthy relationships with other women and food and spice up their marriage with confidence and sexiness and I believe that all women should not drink to excess and love their body where they are and eat to feel good ~

It pisses me off seeing other women bashing themselves over what they ate and feeling guilty and regretful.  It pisses me off that other women talk about how perfect their lives are on social media but behind the camera, they are not living their truth.  Food shaming exists! Body shaming exists amongst ourselves. We are carrying around the old stories that we grew up with and they are no longer true.

Fewer calories in, more calories out does NOT work!  Restriction and deprivation only lead to overeating and feeling like we failed.

Be a certain size.  Skinny is good, fat is bad.  Weigh a certain number for good health.  Wear a certain size of clothing for good health.  Workout every single day ONLY with the intention of dropping 5 pounds and when that doesn’t happen we give up because exercise is ONLY for losing weight, not our mental health.

It is so frustrating to hear a woman say “I shouldn’t eat that”  or “I’m was so bad, I ate candy instead of fresh fruit.” I can’t have pizza, I’m on a diet.  I can’t go on a diet during my birthday month because I can’t have cake. I can’t go out to dinner and have fun with friends because I’m on a diet.

I would love to hear from you if you took part in this exercise. Reach out to me via email at helloto50andbeyond@gmail.com or on Instagram.
